Bluepulse is a Unique Social Feedback Platform Designed to Help Educators
Achieve Teaching and Learning Excellence in the Classroom

HOW BLUEPULSE® WORKS

Introducing Bluepulse—taking the guesswork out of improvement. Tackle teaching blind spots and set students up for success by incorporating candid anonymous feedback for class-by-class improvement.

  • Suggest

Students make daily anonymous suggestions about things that would improve their learning experience in the classroom. A 160-character maximum encourages students to be concise and on-topic with their suggestions. By collecting student input, instructors discover teaching ‘blind spots’ that will help them go from being a good instructor to a great one.

The video depicts a user’s view that zooms into the large course tile that is displayed in the student user view of Bluepulse. The user then types the message, “I need more review before quizzes” and then the cursor moves to the right and clicks on the button labelled: Suggest. There is a small animation depicting a clicking action, the suggestion is submitted and then small alert in a green box appears, notifying the viewer that the suggestion has been successfully submitted.

  • Rate

With one rating per initiative, per day, students help prioritize areas for improvement based on rating participation. After reviewing student suggestions, instructors identify improvement opportunities, then incorporate student input to create initiatives. Each day, students and instructors can see how ratings relate to positive changes occurring from class to class.

The video depicts a user’s view that zooms into the large course tile that is displayed in the student user view of Bluepulse. There is a grid with circles of various sizes, placed in various positions on the grid. The circles represent initiatives that the user can rate. The user in the video then moves the cursor over the first circle, then clicks. At that moment, the corresponding initiatives is displayed below the grid. The user continues to cycle through the initiatives by clicking on two subsequent circles. On the third circles, the user moves the cursor to the rating scale, selects the highest rating.

  • Improve

Tracking improvement is easy. By introducing new improvement opportunities or revisiting old ones, instructors can monitor how aggregate scores and rating volumes change from day to day with easy to read graphs. By proactively addressing learning gaps and trying new teaching approaches, instructors can engage students so everyone progresses together.

The video depicts a user navigating within the student user view of Bluepulse. The cursor moves over the extra-large tile and clicks the ‘Expand’ arrow, located in the top right hand corner of the course tile. Once the tile expands, the user moves the cursor over to click the ‘Line Chart’ link and the tile slides left to reveal a line chart that tracks the average aggregate score of that initiative over time. An animation of a graph line depicts that although aggregate scores of the initiative change over time, there is a general increasing trend denoting improvement. Once the graph line reaches the top, an added notification tells the viewer that this is ‘continuous improvement’.

  • Broadcast

The Broadcast tool is an in-the-moment communication feature for teachers to clarify student feedback for more informed decision making. Teachers have the option to broadcast to individual students about suggestions they’ve made, students who responded with a specific rating, or the entire classroom. Teachers can allow students a one-time response to Broadcasts and continue the dialogue if they see fit.

Three progressively larger concentric circles that each have an icon the denotes a single student, groups of raters, and an entire class. This surrounded by another circle the denotes the Broadcast function.
  • Learning Poll

Learning Poll is a quick survey feature used to gather precise self-assessment data about how well individual students feel they were able to grasp topics or complete assignments. Teachers access the Learning Poll results and parse the data to identify trends among students who are excelling or falling behind. Teachers can keep a “pulse” on the classroom by identifying where problems areas occur.

Line chart with a single data point highlighted with a connecting line that displays a pie chart of the Learning Poll. This is encapsulated in a circle with the Learning Poll icon.
  • 1on1

1on1 is a innovative anonymous two-way communication feature that connects at-risk students to their instructors for remedial help with course concepts, assignments, and more. This safe and private communication channel can be activated by teachers from any Broadcast and deactivated at any time by teachers. This feature helps them be proactive about identifying and closing learning gaps for students with personalized tutoring.
